Smart Home Scenarios

Home automation integrates all household systems such that they work together in ways you may not have thought possible. Some scenarios:

1) Exiting Your Home

The system knows what time of day it is, and when darkness occurs.

  • Arm interior and perimeter security
  • Turn off all lights
  • Reduce interior temperature
  • Turn off radiant floor heating

When night falls and you are still away;

  • Turn on entrance overhead lights
  • Randomize interior lights (gives the appearance the home is occupied)
2) Returning Home

Your home knows what time of day it is, and when darkness occurs.

Daylight hours

  • Open Garage Door
  • Disarm interior and perimeter security
  • Turn on interior lighting.
  • Set at-home daytime interior comfort temperature
  • Turn on radiant floor heating

NightTime hours

  • Open Garage Door
  • Disarm interior and perimeter security
  • Turn on interior lighting.
  • Turn on entrance overhead lights
  • Set at-home night-time interior comfort temperature (lower than daytime)
  • Turn on radiant floor heating
3) Goodnight

This would be a button you press at bedtime.

  • Arm perimeter security only
  • Turn off all lights except night lights
  • Reduce interior temperature
  • Reduce radiant floor heating to nighttime levels
4) Basement Water or Gas Leak
  • Call monitoring company
  • Notify homeowner by cell of the leak
5) Children’s Late Arrival Curfew Exceeded

Send homeowner a private email identifying access code holder, and time of arrival home.

6) Late Night Wakeup
  • Turn on bedroom lights to 20% brightness so as not to wake up partner
  • Light the hallways and kitchen to 75% brightness
7) Alarm Tripped, Home Unoccupied

This would happen if a break-in occurs.

  • Notify the monitoring station to dispatch police
  • Flash front/rear outside lights for 30 minutes
  • Sound alarm horn for 4 minutes
  • Turn ON interior lights, maximum brightness for 30 minutes
8) Nighttime Visitor Arrival
  • Turn on driveway and front porch lights
  • Turn on interior lights to front door
  • Display porch camera image on TV
9) Leave Garage Door Open
  • If winter, close after 5 minutes
  • If not winter and daylight, leave door open for 1 hour
  • If not winter and nighttime, close after 5 minutes
