Smart Home Scenarios
Home automation integrates all household systems such that they work together in ways you may not have thought possible. Some scenarios:
1) Exiting Your Home
The system knows what time of day it is, and when darkness occurs.
- Arm interior and perimeter security
- Turn off all lights
- Reduce interior temperature
- Turn off radiant floor heating
When night falls and you are still away;
- Turn on entrance overhead lights
- Randomize interior lights (gives the appearance the home is occupied)
2) Returning Home
Your home knows what time of day it is, and when darkness occurs.
Daylight hours
- Open Garage Door
- Disarm interior and perimeter security
- Turn on interior lighting.
- Set at-home daytime interior comfort temperature
- Turn on radiant floor heating
NightTime hours
- Open Garage Door
- Disarm interior and perimeter security
- Turn on interior lighting.
- Turn on entrance overhead lights
- Set at-home night-time interior comfort temperature (lower than daytime)
- Turn on radiant floor heating
3) Goodnight
This would be a button you press at bedtime.
- Arm perimeter security only
- Turn off all lights except night lights
- Reduce interior temperature
- Reduce radiant floor heating to nighttime levels
4) Basement Water or Gas Leak
- Call monitoring company
- Notify homeowner by cell of the leak
5) Children’s Late Arrival Curfew Exceeded
Send homeowner a private email identifying access code holder, and time of arrival home.
6) Late Night Wakeup
- Turn on bedroom lights to 20% brightness so as not to wake up partner
- Light the hallways and kitchen to 75% brightness
7) Alarm Tripped, Home Unoccupied
This would happen if a break-in occurs.
- Notify the monitoring station to dispatch police
- Flash front/rear outside lights for 30 minutes
- Sound alarm horn for 4 minutes
- Turn ON interior lights, maximum brightness for 30 minutes
8) Nighttime Visitor Arrival
- Turn on driveway and front porch lights
- Turn on interior lights to front door
- Display porch camera image on TV
9) Leave Garage Door Open
- If winter, close after 5 minutes
- If not winter and daylight, leave door open for 1 hour
- If not winter and nighttime, close after 5 minutes
